Privacy policy

We collect only what we need to answer your questions and deliver your order, and we never sell your information.

Tégō Shade is part of Lagassé Ventures Inc., a Canadian company. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why, and how you can reach us about it. It follows Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

When you message us. If you use the chat form, email us or request samples, we receive your name, the phone number or email you give us, your message, and the page you sent it from.

When you order. Payment is handled by Stripe on its secure checkout page. We receive your name, email, phone number, billing and shipping address, and what you ordered. We never see or store your full card number.

When you browse. Like any website, our host keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) to keep the site running and secure. With your permission, we also use analytics and advertising cookies (see Cookies below).

How we use it

To answer your questions, prepare quotes, process and deliver your order, arrange installation where offered, help with warranty claims, and keep records the law requires (for example, for tax). If you're a customer, we may occasionally follow up about your order or your product. We don't send marketing email unless you've agreed to it, and you can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

Only the people who help us do the job, and only what they need:

Stripe processes payments. Netlify hosts this website and receives messages and form requests. Google and Meta receive browsing data for analytics and ad measurement, only if you accept cookies. The manufacturer and carrier (Shadowspec, Umbrosa, Shade Sails Canada and their delivery partners) receive your name, address and phone number so they can make and deliver your order. Our accountants see order records for bookkeeping and tax.

Some of these services store information outside Canada, including in the United States and New Zealand, where it may be subject to those countries' laws. We don't sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

Cookies

With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this site, and advertising tags from Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) to measure whether our ads work. These set cookies in your browser. Nothing is loaded until you choose Accept all, and you can change your choice at any time from Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. If you choose Necessary only, the site works exactly the same.

A few things work without any choice from you: we remember your cookie choice and what's in your cart in your browser, our fonts load from Google Fonts (which receives your IP address to deliver them), and Stripe's checkout page uses its own cookies to process payments securely and prevent fraud.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as Canadian tax law requires (generally six years) and for the life of your product's warranty. We keep messages for as long as they're useful for helping you, then delete them.

Your choices

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete what we're not required to keep. Email nick@tegoshade.com and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
